what starts as a snowball soon becomes an avalanche.

"i've isolated one of my higher interest rate loans and started paying a little more extra every month towards it. it's hard but in the long run it'll be a good thing. unless things go to shit and i get laid off again and despite trying to pay what i can it'll go into default and they'll start collecting on me and piling up fees beyond anything i've tried to pay off so far. it won't even be like i've given all this money for years. i don't ever want it to get to that point, but some days it's hard to stave off the fear of it happening and the grand canyon that i visualize as my debt will just widen into a black hole, pulling everything in."
