layoff

another layoff at my firm today. it was a "subtle" layoff, or "halfway" layoff, or a polite but totally screwed up way of the boss telling said employer "you're not fired officially, but i don't think there will be a job for you when you come back from vacation."

kind of makes me never want to take a vacation again. that employee (not me, just to be clear) is currently freaking out, for good reason. who the hell can enjoy their vacation with that kind of bullshit lingering in the air?

anyway, that aside, there are three employees and two partners left. i kind of get the feeling that one of the partners may drift away. who knows what's going to happen, except for this weekend i can account for one thing - i will be in the office, updating my resume and finalizing/printing my portfolio.

the one thing that stresses me is the small debt i am in. the big debt - the student loans - can be put on hold. the small debt cannot. the small debt is about $4000. not a large sum, but still a grave i am finding difficult to fill yet again. for some reason this causes more anxiety than the student loans or potential job loss. stress. stress stress stress.
