wow
i was in rehearsal until 11pm, and i had only heard brief updates from other people around the theater who had blackberries and iphones. as i was walking back to the subway, i got a few txt messages that told me what was the latest. cars were honking their horns, and people were shouting "Obamaaaa!" at random moments.
i took a train downtown to my office, where more shouting and revelry poured out of a local bar. i had missed all the election parties that i had been invited to over in brooklyn and sober as i was i wasn't about to step into a bar at this point. so i creeped into my office, dropped off my clarinet, and turned on my computer. it is indeed true. i checked on Colorado and i saw the color blue. in all the past two elections i have voted in, to my extreme disappointment it had gone red. i'm proud of the results and even a little choked up. our first black (okay half black) president ever. so it IS possible that anyone can be president. perhaps a woman will be next.
wow. i'm just utterly blown away, and relieved, and excited. i hope barack obama can live up to what all these millions of people are expecting. this is going to be an amazing next four years.
