do something different day

so this guy on livejournal (back when i had a livejournal, ages and ages ago) used to do this thing once a week (or month?) called do something different day. it's obvious what that means, and obvious as to why i titled this post that, so let's just jump in shall we?

my DSDD is going to be - going to the library. i used to go a ton as a kid, but as i grew older i was able to afford my own books, and thus amassed a rather decent sized collection that i lug with me everywhere i move. i like having books on hand, they make me happy. i like to fold back the pages to mark my place, i like the fact that it's MINE ALL MINE and that i will have it, forever accessible should i want to read it at any time in the future. but alas, i am broke. i want to continue reading, so i will do as i did as a kid - hit the library. i've got a rather huge list on goodreads, so i may as well dig in.

update: well the NYPL is off limits until i go in and stand in line to pay off my fines - meh. that leaves the brooklyn public library - and why not? the central location is only one block from my house. of course everything i've searched for is not actually there and is checked out, but i've requested things from my list... now i just have to wait and see. if anyone is interested in what i'm reading, you can check out my list on goodreads here.

next up on DSDD - finding a place to rent/purchase a clarinet (as i lost my very nice one in the move out to new york).
