status update

wow. i just wrote a whole big rant with multiple paragraphs and heavy hitting points when i realized i have done the exact same thing and am thus huge hypocrite. so, instead of revealing that bit of ugliness, i decided to delete it. besides the escape key (numero uno), the delete key is defintiely becoming one of my favorites as well.
